Grand Theft Auto IV, commonly shortened to GTA IV, is a 2008 action adventure video game, developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 29 April 2008, and for Microsoft Windows on 2 December 2008. Grand Theft Auto IV won numerous awards from both gaming and mainstream press, including several recognitions as Game of the Year. As of 2012 the game has sold over 25 million copies. It is widely considered to be one of the best video games of all time and a landmark in modern gaming.
